Chess is a good way to have fun while
developing important skills that are of key
relevance in our modern world. It takes go
od concentration skills to cope with the
overstimulation and vast diversity of
information we encounter daily. In
addition to strategic thinking and planning,
chess systematically promotes imagination
and combinatorial analysis.
COURSE I This beginner’s course lays
the foundation for all further chess skills
development. It starts with a look at the
fascinating origins of chess. Later we
get to know the powers and importance
of the individual figures in detail.
Fundamental thinking strategies are
explained and tried out in connection with
some easy chess exercises. Even here,
we already encounter important ideas
as ‘zugzwang’ or double attack in a
simple form. Overall, this course provides
a complete introduction to the rules, and
towards the end, basic opening moves.
